Three UGA football players have been named to the 2024 Rotary Lombardi Award nominee list, the Lombardi Award and the Rotary Club of Houston announced.
Georgia Bulldogs watchlist prospects this season include junior offensive lineman Dylan Fairchild, senior offensive lineman Tate Ratledge and junior defensive lineman Mykel Williams.
The Rotary Lombardi Award is a coveted award given each year to the offensive or defensive lineman in college football “…who, in addition to outstanding performance and skill, embodies the character and discipline of NFL Hall of Fame head coach Vince Lombardi.”
To be considered for the Lombardi Award, players must be a member of an NCAA FBS college football team and meet the following qualifications:
- Be a down lineman, end to end, on either offense or defense, and line up no more than ten (10) yards to the left or right of the ball at the time of the snap.
- Be a linebacker on defense and line up no more than five (5) yards from the line of scrimmage.
- May not come out of the offensive backfield and line up at the line of scrimmage as a blocker or receiver or be listed in the program as an offensive back or receiver.
- Be eligible to participate in the current season.
The semifinalists for the 2024 Lombardi Award will be announced this fall, followed by the announcement of the four finalists in mid-November. The winner of the 2024 Lombardi Award will be announced on Wednesday, December 11, at the 51st Gala Dinner.
The Georgia Bulldogs open the 2024 season on Saturday, August 31, against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The game will be broadcast live on ABC at 12:00 p.m. ET (buy tickets).
