It’s been a while since I’ve featured a Leo’s World quiz here, but that’s about to end. Longtime reader/friend/contributor Leo Strawn Jr. is back with one of his patented quizzes. As I’ve done with other quizzes of his, I’m going to post this article now without the answers so you can make your guesses in the comments.

I’m Leo…welcome to my world!

The MLB is in the home stretch, so give me some peanuts and Cracker Jack…and an end to the 7 1/2 decade drought of a division championship from start to finish AND a World Series win! (The name change from “Indians” was supposed to end the “curse,” right?!)

This edition is about obscure baseball uniforms and caps, but this time there are no photos in the questions, just trivia. Like battling for a playoff spot, this quiz might be a little difficult, so just do your best and have fun with it, okay?

NOTE: For this quiz, I only considered AL and NL clubs because uniform information on teams from other major leagues is sparse and sometimes unreliable.

Ready…?

1. Which major league club was the first to wear letters on their caps? (Hint: This was a 19th century NL club that is still in the MLB today.)

2. Which American League team was the first? (Hint: From 1902 to 1904, they were the only AL club to wear lettering on their caps.)

3. Which major league teams wore “Worlds Champions,” “World’s Champions,” or “World Champions” as the primary wording on the front of their jersey?

4. Which major league club was the first to wear a zip-up jersey and in what year?

5. Which major league team was the first to wear vests and what year was that?

6. Which was the first American League team to wear solid-colored (not white or gray) jerseys/pants/caps?

7. Which major league team was the first to wear an animal on its cap, and in what year did this first happen?

8. Which MLB club was the last to not wear identifying logos or markings on caps or jerseys, and what year did this happen? (Hint: It happened much later than you might expect!)

9. The Athletics were the first major league team of the 20th century to wear the color green on their uniforms and caps in 1963, when they were still based in Kansas City. Who was the second?

Extra inning. What year did the first Blue Jays logo appear on an MLB jersey?
