Hundred Acre buys Kelly Fleming Winery in California

Hundred Acre buys Kelly Fleming Winery in California

The US-based Hundred Acre Wine Group has acquired the Kelly Fleming winery in California.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Kelly Fleming Winery is a 286-acre winery located in Simmons Canyon between Calistoga and St. Helena on the east side of Napa Valley. The winery includes 12 acres of vineyards and a 5,000-square-foot stone winery.

The Napa Valley winery will be merged with Hundred Acre’s adjacent Few And Far Between vineyard, which consists of five acres of vineyards as part of a 115-acre total property.

Following the transaction, Hundred Acre will own a total of 400 acres of land.

The winery at Fleming Ranch is carved into the hillside, similar to Hundred Acres’ cave winery, The Ring, the group said in a statement. The purchase will also “enable more barrel fermentations in the caves.”

Hundred Acre founder Jayson Woodbridge said the first harvest from the former Kelly Fleming vineyards will be in the third quarter of 2024.

“It’s a perfect fit for Hundred Acre. We are proud and honored to have acquired this property that we have long admired from Kelly,” added Woodbridge.

Kelly Fleming said, “When I purchased this property in 1998, I had a vision to create a property worthy of this special volcanic canyon terroir. My dream has come true.”

“I left this vineyard as beautiful as I found it. It has a tiny footprint but is an unforgettable place to visit and celebrate Cabernet Sauvignon. I look forward to the Woodbridge family continuing the legacy and adding their masterful touch to the wines they make here.”

In July, Woodbridge purchased Madrigal Vineyards, a 10-acre property between Calistoga and St. Helena, California, to use for its other wine brand, Fortunate Son Wines. It includes eight acres of planted vineyards, a winery, a tasting room that is open by appointment only, a garden and a small private estate.

In 2022, Woodbridge also purchased a historic 18-acre vineyard dating to the 1870s on Larkmead Lane in Calistoga and the corner of Highway 29, now called True Romance Vineyard. The site will be used to build an estate for Fortunate Son, which is expected to be completed by 2027.

The winemaker also owns the Summer Dreams brand, which produces Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay wines, among others, from three wineries on California’s Sonoma Coast – Heintz Vineyard, Petersen Ranch and Vulcan Ridge.
