DNC Preview: How Upcoming Presidential Debates Could Help or Hurt the Candidates

Washington — Party leaders and rising stars will address delegates in Chicago this week, while Democratic National Convention begins, with speeches that certainly honor President Biden’s term in office while celebrating a new name on the ticket.

The party will rally around its newly minted ticket with renewed enthusiasm this week after Mr Biden resigned and Vice President Kamala Harris took over the party leadershipAnd a host of Democrats from across the country will address delegates over four days in advance of speeches by the new presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Harris’ running mate, Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walzis expected to formally accept the nomination for vice president on Wednesday evening, while Harris will take the stage on Thursday to formally accept the nomination for president.

Speakers for the 2024 Democratic National Convention

Three presidents, congressional leaders and other prominent party members will speak at the convention this week as Democrats prepare for the November election. Although the official speaker schedule has not yet been released, convention officials and other sources familiar with the planning have confirmed a number of speakers throughout the week. Here are the speakers we know so far:

  • President Biden
  • First Lady Jill Biden
  • Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
  • Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker
  • Former President Barack Obama
  • Former First Lady Michelle Obama
  • Former President Bill Clinton
  • Representative Tom Souzzi
  • Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi
  • Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff
  • Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
  • Hakeem Jeffries, leader of the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives
  • Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz
  • Vice President Kamala Harris

Who spoke at the 2020 Democratic National Convention?

The 2020 conference, which was held virtually Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, speeches were given by Barack and Michelle Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and several of Biden’s rivals in the 2020 primaries, including Senators Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, and Cory Booker of New Jersey. Prominent party leaders such as Pelosi and Schumer also spoke, as did rising stars such as Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
