Good bones is a reality TV show from HGTV in which a mother-daughter duo renovates houses. At least, it was until the former left after season 6. So what happened to the mother? Good bones? Here is the explanation.
That is why the mother from “Good Bones” first stepped back and then left again
Karen E. Laine, the mother from Good bonesretired from the family business and her relationship with her daughter, Mina Starsiak Hawk, deteriorated. After retiring from the family business, she stayed on for a few more seasons in various film projects, but was not seen in seasons 7 and 8.
The couple’s hobby of renovating houses turned into a business, Two Chicks and a Hammer, which in turn led to the television show Good bones. Laine left in 2019 but remained on the show for those two seasons. However, her daughter Mina became estranged from Karen and other family members.
As Closer reports, Mina said that her mother Karen was not part of her children’s lives and she also had problems with her brothers.
“We all put on our big kid pants and pretend to be nice… and then we retreat to our corners of the universe and talk shit about each other,” she said, suggesting that Karen and Mina’s interactions on the show were not sincere, that they acted nice on camera and then turned frosty again.
Did season 9 of “Good Bones” repair the relationship between mother and daughter?
That was the situation until recently, when HGTV made a surprise announcement of a 9th season of the show. It’s more of a trio of catch-up specials, but it would make for good TV if the couple got back together and came to some sort of understanding, maybe a hug? So… did that actually happen? Are Karen and Mina back together as a family? Nope.

When I heard that the show would bring Mina And Karen, I’ve been wondering, as have many viewers, how HGTV would bring these two back together given their relationship problems. But it’s unlikely that won’t happen.
Karen is completely absent from the first episode of season 9. Instead, it’s about Mina selling the old Two Chicks headquarters and moving on with her life. The next episode will likely focus on Karen, and I’d be very, very surprised if the two of them were even on screen together.
