The event is jointly organized by Cinemac (under the name Cinemac Live) and Choose Macc, the operators of the music festival in Macclesfield.

Jo Lowes from Choose Macc (formerly known as Party in the Pews) spoke to Macclesfield Nub News.

“When I read online that it had been so long, I really couldn’t believe it,” she said.

“It was the first movie I saw when I was 18 (long before I was 18), and I still watch Tarantino movies today.”

But for everyone pulp Fiction Fans in Macc may be seeing the film for the first time. Jo revealed what impact she thinks the film will have on pop culture.

“Thirty years ago, Quentin Tarantino’s pulp Fiction premiered at Cannes and irrevocably changed cinema, marking the birth of the postmodern blockbuster and ushering in a new wave of independent film,” she explained.

“The film has inspired everyone from Christopher Nolan to Guy Ritchie, breaking Bad and the Marvel films. Key scenes from the films have been copied countless times and have found their way into pop culture.

pulp Fiction has one of the most legendary and strongest casts of all time, starring John Travolta (whose career has been resurrected) alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis and Christopher Walken. This film also won many awards, including Golden Globes, an Oscar and a BAFTA award.

“Many of these awards went to the actors/actresses or to Quentin Tarantino for his original screenplay. One of the reasons why the film was so unique is its non-linear narrative style. Instead of the traditional cause-and-effect plot, Tarantino creates sequences, pulp Fiction intentionally out of order to create a puzzle that forces the audience to watch to the end and then watch it all again.”

And since one of the screenings ends with live music, you can look forward to a few songs from the film in the setlist!

When asked why Choose Macc and Cinemac combined the cinema screening with a concert, Jo replied: “Tarantino’s films have always been praised for their soundtracks, which include classics from some of the most influential musicians of all time. His films are undoubtedly made even more iconic by the tracks embedded in the scenes he shoots.

“Tarantino himself is a huge music fan and creates all of his soundtracks from his own vinyl collection. In interviews he has said he goes through the collection to find the ‘personality’ of the film when writing, and then uses those songs in the soundtrack. It’s impossible to think of his most famous scenes without remembering the song that goes with them.

You can get tickets for the screenings HERE.

“Cinemac is a totally unique venue that can combine a film screening with a dance floor and a stage for live bands. There is nothing like it in Macclesfield and I will be planning more events using Cinemac as a multi-purpose venue,” she concluded.

“Watch this space for more events and follow Choose Macc and Cinemac Live on social media.

“It’s a great film, a great soundtrack, great live music, a great venue… how could it not be great?
