Vicky Kaushal will be seen essaying the role of another historical icon in the upcoming epic action drama Chhaava. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film tells the story of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji. Slated for release on December 6, the teaser and poster of the much-awaited historical saga were recently unveiled, featuring Kaushal in the titular role.
The teaser begins with a powerful voiceover by Vicky Kaushal: “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is called Lion and I am his son. The lion cub is called Chhaava.” The images show him on a horse in warrior’s armour, taking part in intense battle scenes against a huge Mughal army. Despite being vastly outnumbered, Sambhaji, bloodied and injured, fights back fiercely, showing his indomitable spirit.

Vicky Kaushal shared the teaser on Instagram with the caption, “Protector of Swarajya. Defender of Dharma. #Chhaava – An epic saga of a brave warrior!” The post was quick to garner praise from fans and fellow actors alike. Bhumi Pednekar commented, “Is there anything you can’t do @vickykaushal09?” while Angira Dhar added, “Amazing,” adding fire and heart emojis. Fans were equally excited, with one writing, “Ye hai asli goosebumps,” and another declaring, “What is that thing Vicky Kaushal can’t do?”

Towards the end of the teaser, Akshaye Khanna makes an impressive entrance as Aurangzeb. He utters a chilling line: “Shivaji is gone, but his thoughts and visions are still alive.” The last shot shows Vicky Kaushal in royal Maratha attire. He sits on a throne. He embodies the royal authority of his character.

When the teaser came out, many Bollywood stars reacted with excitement. Actor Sharvari commented, “Goosebumps!!” Bhumi Pednekar praised Vicky and commented, “Is there anything you can’t do @vickykaushal09? Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous.”

Chhaava also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Neil Bhoopalam and Santosh Juvekar in lead roles. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, this film promises to be an epic cinematic experience. Mark your calendars for December 6th. Chhaava will bring history to life on the big screen.
