KELLY’S £400,000 exit | Celtic Quick News

CELTIC have agreed to a transfer fee of £400,000 plus add-ons to immediately release Daniel Kelly to Millwall.

The 18-year-old midfielder had signed a pre-contract with the London side and was ready to join them when his contract with the Hoops expired on January 1, 2025.

Kelly turned down a reported £5,000-a-week offer to extend his contract with the champions, but the youngster, who made his first-team debut in a 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Buckie Thistle in January, was determined to move to the Championship side.

ON THE MOVE… Daniel Kelly is on his way to Millwall.

The second division club had originally offered a paltry £270,000 for the Scottish U19 international, but the Parkhead men rejected the offer and wanted to take a tough stance on the transfer.

This would have meant that Kelly would have stayed at the club for almost four and a half months without any prospect of playing for the first team.

The dispute has now been settled and Celtic have accepted an offer of £400,000 plus additional payments, according to a report in the Daily Record.

Kelly made eight appearances for the champions and scored his first goal in the 7-1 win over Dundee in February.

Rodgers had high hopes for Kelly, but the powerful midfielder rejected new terms in June and was left out of the squad that toured the United States in the summer.
