At the conclusion of the 2024 Pokémon World Championships in Honolulu, The Pokémon Company not only announced the venues for the next championships in 2025, but Also the event in 2026.
Next year’s competition will be held in Anaheim, California, from August 15-17, 2025, while the following year’s competition will be held in San Francisco from August 28-30, 2026. Despite the name “World Championship,” this is the second consecutive competition for the state of California alone, continuing a trend since the event’s inception that has led to it being held in the United States almost every year.
The news came during the closing ceremony of the current Pokémon World Championships, which also featured news about Pokémon Go, Pokémon UNITE, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and an announcement of the release date for the new Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app, which launches on October 30.
The locations for the 2025 and 2026 Pokémon World Championships were revealed in a trailer, which you can watch below:
In case you missed it, Pokémon TCG Pocket is an upcoming new free mobile app that simulates opening packs of Pokémon cards, collecting them, and trading them with friends, as well as offering a “simplified” version of playing the actual TCG.
The game will also include various virtual card treatments, including “Immersive” cards that are exclusive to the app and will show players even more of the worlds within the card art. While the exact mechanics of in-app pack purchases weren’t made clear, we do know that users will get two free packs to open each day.
With the launch of pre-registrations, The Pokemon Company has also announced the launch date for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. The app is set to be available on Android and iOS devices starting October 30, 2024. You can pre-register below:
