Fairport, NY – For the second year in a row, the Bills Mafia Babes brought together women from across Western New York State for a good time and a good cause.

What began on Facebook as a way for women interested in sports to meet and talk about their favorite team has grown into a global community dedicated to advancing the Bills’ mission.

Co-coordinator Jeanna Ross explained that part of starting the group was about giving back.

“Mafia Babes is a charity. Each month they choose a different charity to support with the proceeds from these events,” Ross said. “This month we are supporting Best Self Behavioral Health, which recently partnered with the Buffalo Bills to support mental health.”

Another core idea of the group is to be a safe place for women who are curious about the sport.

“We are women for women and we encourage women,” said co-coordinator Suzanne Halberstadt. “Each year relationships have been built and training in football has been provided.”

Some of the women in this group have formed close friendships, such as Jackie Fabian and Robin Niccoloy-Musson, who met at last year’s meeting.

“It’s a soul mate, a community. They support good causes as well as each other, and they build each other up instead of tearing people down,” Robin said.

According to the coordinators, over 36,000 Mafia Babes came together worldwide on Sunday.

“No matter where you are in the world, there is always a Bills fan,” Jackie said.

Harmony Worden of Buffalo, the Bills’ hometown, said the atmosphere at the event was uplifting.

“It’s great to see so many women involved because I feel like it’s always men who like football. So it’s great to see all the women who are also part of the mafia,” she said.

Last year, the Mafia Babes raised more than $9,000 for Dion’s Dreamers.
