42-year-old man killed, two others injured in stabbing in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — A 42-year-old man was killed and two others injured in a stabbing attack in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood early Sunday morning. The New York Police Department is actively investigating the incident, which occurred near 50th Street and 4th Avenue within the 72nd Precinct.

Authorities responded to a 911 call at approximately 7:20 a.m. on August 18, 2024. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims – a 42-year-old and a 30-year-old – with multiple stab wounds. EMS transported both men to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. The 42-year-old victim, identified as Melvin Gomez Nunez of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 30-year-old victim is reported to be in stable condition.

Shortly thereafter, police were notified of a third victim – a 38-year-old man – who was taken to Brooklyn Hospital Center with multiple stab wounds related to the same incident. He is also said to be in stable condition.

The circumstances leading to the stabbings remain unclear and no arrests have been made. The NYPD investigation is ongoing as detectives attempt to determine the motive for the attack and identify any suspects involved.

    BRONX, NY – The New York Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying a man involved in an incident of public indecency that occurred aboard a southbound Train Line 5 train in the 41st Precinct/Transit District 12.

    The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at around 9:10 p.m.

    An 18-year-old woman was sitting on a train near Simpson Street Station when an unknown man sat across from her, exposed his genitals and began performing an indecent act.

    The suspect fled the scene, exited the train at the Simpson Street stop and disappeared to an unknown location. The victim was not physically injured in the incident.

    The suspect is described as male, approximately 25 years old, 5’10” tall, and weighing approximately 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with the word “TIME” in yellow letters on the front, light-colored shorts, and white sneakers.

    The NYPD is actively investigating the incident and asks anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
