Revolution eMLS athlete Jafonso’s meteoric rise continued on Sunday as he lifted the ESports World Cup trophy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

For Jafonso, the group phase flew by and he finished Group A with a score of 6:1.

Jafonso opened the playoffs by facing ManuBachoore in the quarterfinals. Jafonso was all over his side and moved into the semifinals with a convincing 6-2 win.

Things got nervous when Jafonso faced PHzin. It was a thrilling back and forth that remained exciting until the end and in stoppage time of the second half of extra time, Jafonso found the back of the net, securing a 7-6 victory and a place in the final of the ESports World Championship.

In the final, Jafonso was all on his side and defeated YOUNG 6-2 to secure the 2024 ESport World Cup championship!

Since signing with the Revolution on December 28, 2023, Jafonso has enjoyed a meteoric rise. After strong performances in the first and second division series, Jafonso made a name for himself at the 2024 eMLS Cup when he captured the Revolution’s first eMLS title by defeating Inter Miami’s K1John to secure the eMLS Cup title.

His victory in the eMLS Cup secured him a spot in the 2024 FC Pro 24 World Championship. After making it to the knockout rounds, Jafonso secured victories over Maxkoelemaij of Ajax and K1John of Miami before being eliminated in the semifinals by Yuval of FC Famalicão.

With his victory at the ESports World Cup, Jafonso brings home another trophy and an incredible $300,000.
