Unknown man tries to kidnap 11-year-old in Vancouver park

VANCOUVER, Washington (KPTV) – Vancouver police say they are searching for a man who attempted to kidnap an 11-year-old child in a Vancouver park on Sunday afternoon.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., police said, a man the child did not know grabbed the 11-year-old at Lieser Crest Park at 7510 Virginia Lane. A passerby stopped the man and he let go of the child.

The man then left the area and drove north on Fredericksburg Way in a “newer dark SUV,” which may have been a Jeep, police said. (Pictured)

Officers said they had searched the area and detectives were now investigating the incident.

Description of the suspect:

  • A white male in his 20s or 30s with short brown hair and possibly a short beard.
  • Approximately 1.73 m tall and weighs 63.5 kg.
  • He has tattoos on his face, hands and “possibly his stomach.”
  • He wore a black hoodie, black basketball shorts with red sides, and dark shoes.
