WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania – In a pitchers’ duel on Harry Potter Night presented by Fired Up Art Studio, the Lake Erie Crushers won 3-1 to save a game in the weekend home series against the Wild Things.

Dariel Fregio got off to a good start in the loss, his fourth of the season. Fregio allowed five hits and one run in six innings and struck out six times, marking Fregio’s eighth good start in the last nine games.

Lake Erie scored a run in the fifth inning on a home run by Scout Knotts against Fregio before scoring two runs in the seventh inning, both credited to Nick MacDonald, making it 3-0.

Washington had a few chances, but none were bigger than the bases being loaded with one out in the eighth inning. The Wild Things got a point on a Jalen Miller ground ball that tied the score at 3-1, but that was all Washington could manage as Lake Erie closer Trevor Kuncl came in to get the Crushers out of the situation. He then managed a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

This is just Washington’s 26th loss of the season, dropping the club to 57-26 on the season. With the West Division’s magic number still at seven, the Wild Things now turn their attention to a three-game home series that begins Tuesday with the Joliet Slammers. First pitch at Bark in the Park is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
