The story

The raid on the Palace of Recovery continues! Jaehwon heads straight to the inner chamber and takes on the Dragon Masters at the same time! After the battle ends, they find the fruits; however, there are only about a dozen left. Jaehwon leaves it up to Caiman to decide what to do with the fruits. Once the decision is made, a watchful eye appears and judges them for their decision. This is followed by a battle against Garam Samyeong, who has gained general-level power!

After the battle, Jaehwon returns to Gorgon and declares that for once he will fulfill his duties as lord of the castle and mourn the dead of this mission.

Yes, that’s a pretty short story summary, but this whole volume was one long fight with more action than story. We got a nice power-up for Jaehwon and he makes his intentions clear as to why he wants to go to Abyss. Other than that, it was mostly action!

Characters

The only major development here is that Jaehwon gets his power-up by activating Genesis. To do this, he had to remember what his goal was, what his world was, and why he fought for his world. Aside from this little reflection, Jaehwon hasn’t changed all that much personally, although his dark and caring side comes out when he decides to honor those killed in the raid on the Recovery Palace.

Garam Samyeong is a typical cocky and insane muscleman. He says he thinks Jaehwon is a worthy opponent, but then expresses disappointment when he mistreats him, only to become humble after his power-up. If you’ve seen this archetype before, then there’s nothing new to learn about him here. However, the fight was pretty entertaining while it lasted.

Caiman had the best moment in this volume in my opinion. When it came to making a decision about the fruit, he had one of the most realistic and diplomatic responses to back up his decision. Caiman is a born leader and matures very quickly. His nobility and honor are amazing and he really stands out as one of the best characters in the series!

Final thoughts

A somewhat short review this time, but what can you really say about a volume that is 90% fight scenes? I mean, the action was great… that’s for sure, as I don’t think I’ve seen a fight here that disappointed, and even though the series devotes almost an entire volume to two major battles, it came across in an epic way that made the fights seem as great as the illustrations showed them. While there wasn’t much character development, Jaehwon’s power-up and Caiman’s maturity were the main focus here. The results of the Recovery Palace raid will surely have some repercussions for Jaehwon in the future as well… especially since it MASSIVELY affected the Masters’ “mobility freedom”.

After the raid ends, a cooldown period begins. Of course, Jaehwon still has his sights set on the Abyss, and after Garam warns him that there are beings more powerful than him there, it’s obvious that Jaehwon’s new Genesis Level may not be enough for him to achieve his goal, which makes us wonder what his next power-up will be?

I’m looking forward to the next sheet!
