Champai Soren, Tiger of Kolhan: A ploy to expose and defeat the BJP in Jharkhand!

Rahul Kumar, a teacher, ran from pillar to post to get transferred from Hazaribagh to Chatra.

He managed to meet and reach an agreement with an authority that could order the issuance of his transfer. The agreement provided for a 50:50 payment before and after notification of the transfer order.

The teacher paid the first installment and waited for the transfer notice. Days and weeks passed. The desperate teacher went to the authorities. The authorities refused to even meet with him.

A frustrated teacher wrote a letter to his wife claiming he had been cheated by the authorities.

“24 years ago, my job was done whenever I paid a bribe to an authority in Bihar. Unfortunately, the situation is different in Jharkhand, where the said authority accepts the bribe and forgets it,” he wrote in his letter.

Rahul Kumar, an Adivasi himself, complained about his plight and said none of the politicians were trustworthy.

Even former chief minister Champai Soren’s ongoing trip from Kolkata to New Delhi, which was reported as an intra-party feud and sparked speculation that he was travelling along with a group of ruling party MPs to protest against the Soren government, appears to be a plan to expose the BJP.

According to the reported Soren plan, the party name “JMM” was reportedly removed from former Prime Minister Champai Soren’s X platform (formerly Twitter).

Moreover, the green JMM flag that was seen at his official residence is now said to have disappeared. Is it true that former Chief Minister Champai Soren and a group of JMM MPs are about to revolt against the JMM led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren?

Rahul Kumar felt that “all Soren’s actions suggest that their aim was to keep the BJP leadership busy with their fabricated and false gestures and words and to make a fool of them in the crucial days before the election.”

“They will take the bribe and abandon it before or after the elections,” Rahul said.

Rahul Kumar’s opinion is not unfounded in Jharkhand, where there are a number of MPs who prepare for deals with the BJP before the elections, but then abandon them.

In Jharkhand, jungle, hills, forest and waterfall are the leitmotifs. Many guides are described by their relationship to these “Jal, Jungle and Jamin”.

In the Singhbhum tribal belt, Champai Soren is widely portrayed as the “Tiger of Kolhan” by the ruling JMM.

In fact, Tiger of Kolhan is a tribute to his past as a loyal worker of JMM chief Shibu Soren and a prominent activist of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha who fought long and hard for statehood.

“In the pre-Bihar period, when the movement for the creation of a separate state of Jharkhand was going on, he would go into hiding when the police were looking for him. No one knew where he would come from: from the forest or from behind a waterfall. Hence the name: The Tiger of Kolhan,” says a JMM leader.

Now, the same Champai Soren alias Tiger of Kolhan could be a ploy of Chief Minister Hemant Soren to defeat the BJP in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
