Meghan Markle ‘longs for’ a royal life but wants to be paid for her duties

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle miss their royal duties, but the Duchess only wants to do them if she is paid for it.

According to royal expert Duncan Larcombe, Harry and Meghan’s ongoing tour of Colombia shows that they miss certain aspects of life as working royals.

“For a couple who have consciously turned their backs on full-time royal life and everything that comes with it, Harry and Meghan seem to be doing exactly what royals do,” he said. OK!.

“The trip to Colombia is a classic tour that they might have done if they had stayed in the UK the whole time. The tour they did in Nigeria was exactly the same – it was a royal tour in every way but the name,” he explained.

He stressed: “They said they couldn’t stand life, they didn’t like the institution – but the actual work of being a member of the royal family is something Meghan – and Harry – clearly long for.”

Sharing his opinion on what exactly Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, misses about royal life, he said: “Being the centre of attention and undertaking high-profile royal duties such as her tour of Australia and her trip to South Africa. It has given her a taste of what royal life could have been like.”

However, he says that through touring, the couple is “cherry-picking what they get.”

He added: “Unfortunately, Meghan has commercialised her work – they get paid, and they get paid handsomely. They may not get paid for Colombia or their pseudo-royal trip to Nigeria, but they use their brand to make a lot of money – selling commercial products and signing permanent contracts with companies like Netflix. Meghan may long for a royal life, but she only seems to want to do things she gets paid for.”
