DFL Supercup: List of all winners

DFL Supercup: List of all winners

The current winner is Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga champion and the DFB Cup winner compete against each other in the German Supercup, which is often referred to as the DFL Supercup or German Super Cup. The DFL Supercup is organized by the German Football League, also known as the German Football League.

It was replaced by the DFB League Cup in 1997. However, in 2008 the competition returned as the T-Home Supercup, without the approval of a football association. The Bundesliga and DFB Cup winners Bayern Munich and the DFB Cup finalists Borussia Dortmund took part.

The match served as a one-year replacement for the DFB League Cup, which was postponed due to the scheduling conflict at UEFA Euro 2008.

On November 10, 2009, at the annual general meeting of the German Football League, the Supercup was relaunched for the 2010–11 season.

The DFL Supercup replaced the DFB Supercup, which was controlled by the German Football Association, as the title of the Supercup. The DFL Supercup is currently administered by the German Football League.

Since 2010, the champion of the double (championship and cup), unlike the DFB Supercup, plays against the runner-up of the Bundesliga. If the score is tied after 90 minutes, a penalty shootout is used to decide the match instead of extra time.

Although this is not an official rule, the DFL ultimately decides on the venue. The game is usually played in the home stadium of the cup winner or the Bundesliga runner-up if a team wins the double.
