Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged an unidentified 17-year-old boy in connection with a shooting that occurred in the 8100 block of Hartford Avenue in East Silver Spring last February.
Police investigation revealed that an adult male and his 17-year-old son were transferring their belongings from one vehicle to another when four suspects exited a Honda Civic, approached them and attempted to steal the adult victim’s car, resulting in a physical altercation between the suspects and the victims.
The adult victim was shot in the head and abdomen during the altercation, and the suspects left the scene in the Honda after the altercation. The shooting victim was treated and released from an area hospital, MCPD said in a news release issued Thursday.

After detectives identified the 17-year-old as one of the suspects involved in the shooting, they obtained an arrest warrant for him, charging him with attempted premeditated murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a serious crime.
On August 9, the suspect was transferred from a Prince George’s County detention center, where he was being held on other charges, to the Montgomery County Processing Unit. He was served with the warrant and is currently being held without bail.
