Bayer Leverkusen head coach Simon Rolfes still does not completely rule out a move by Jonathan Tah to FC Bayern Munich.

For a while, Jonathan Tah seemed to be a possible new signing for FC Bayern Munich, but the rumor mill is rife and a transfer now seems unlikely.

However, in a conversation with Sky Deutschland on Saturday, Simon Rolfes, Sporting Director at Bayer Leverkusen, did not want to completely rule out a transfer for Tah before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

“You can rarely rule anything out in life,” Rolfes said, but added:

“There is nothing that makes me doubt that ‘Jona’ will not stay with us. That is our position at the moment. There is a lot of speculation, many players left in April or May who are still with us.”

Tah, who came on as a substitute in Leverkusen’s Supercup penalty shootout victory against Stuttgart on Saturday, is “very focused” despite the ongoing rumors, Rolfes stressed.

“He is an important part of the team and is of course emotionally connected to every single teammate, the coach and the fans.”

Max Eberl, sporting director of FC Bayern Munich, recently said that Bayern were finished with their new signings in this transfer period, “unless something extraordinary happens”.
