JONESBORO, Arkansas (KAIT) – Our preseason tour continues in East Poinsett County.

The Warriors are coming off a 12-win, 2-loss season and are headed to the 2A state championship, where they narrowly missed out.

Now head coach Brandon Powell wants the younger players to play to their strengths at the start of the season.

“Fall practice was great. We had good numbers early, the energy was good, the numbers were up, so we’re excited for fall camp. The guys have to get ready. We lost a lot of key seniors from last year’s team, in 2A football those guys are graduating and moving on, so it’s time for the younger guys to step up and be the playmakers, so we have to see who the playmakers are for this team. We’re breaking in a new quarterback and a new running back, but I think we have guys that are capable of making plays. Tyrus Real will be our senior quarterback for us, he’s been a wide receiver for us and has been in the system, so he’ll take over. Jacob Gaines and Dee Buchanon will take over at running back for us, we’re looking for those guys to fill those positions.”

EPC opens the season on August 30 against Walnut Ridge.
