Salehe Bembury “Art lovers thumbs up, great work” Crocs series

Salehe Bembury has come up with something new with Crocs for his latest release. He is looking to expand his partnership with Crocs with a line of new Pollex clogs that he is designing with his colleagues. On Instagram, Bembury proclaimed: “Thumbs up, great job Art Friends.”

A new series of collaborations is planned that will see Bembury team up with artists and industry visionaries to create their own Crocs, kicking off the release with a collaboration with Jonas Wood for the Pollex clogs. A contemporary artist based in Los Angeles, Wood is best known for his genre-bending portraits, still lifes and landscapes. Some of his most well-known works are his basketball prints and paintings, where he uses bold colors and graphics that often combine historical references with images of objects, interiors and people. His signature translation of the three-dimensional world into a flat, living world has taken him to various exhibitions in galleries around the globe. His unique perspective of using lines and flat colors to create an unexpected vision of scale has earned him one of the most distinctive aesthetics in the art world.

The Crocs clog collaboration adopts Wood’s stippling technique and color blocking in shades of blue, grey and black throughout the shoe. The shoe will release as part of the “Art Friends Thumbs Up Good Job” series online at BeASpunge on August 22nd at 9am PST. Only 1000 pairs will be available.
