A man is dead after being hit by a train outside Citi Field on Saturday night in what police said was an apparent suicide shortly before the end of a Mets game.

A train conductor observed the man walking on a catwalk and lying down on the tracks in front of a southbound Route 7 train before it was able to stop at the Mets-Willets Point station around 6 p.m., police said.

The man, whose identity has not yet been established, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The incident occurred shortly before the Mets won their home game against the Marlins.

The incident caused seven trains in both directions to be delayed for hours as fans streamed out of the stadium, according to the MTA.

Regular service on Line 7 resumed at 8:30 p.m. with some remaining delays, an MTA spokesman told the Post.

The Long Island Rail Road, which also stops at Mets-Willets Point station, was not affected.
