The The USA’s semi-final victory against Serbia on Tuesday is a classicarguably the greatest basketball game the USA has ever played at the Olympics. (The gold medal game between the USA and Spain in 2008 would also be in the running for the crown.)

At some point we will turn our attention back to France and the gold medal match, but we have to savor what we have just experienced. Savor it. Games played with so much passion and at this level are far too rare. Those involved have recognized this, as has the basketball world.
