Coach Brian Daboll, QB Daniel Jones

“It’s hard to win a game when you lose the ball five times. That’s where you start. So, a decision in our end zone, allowing a point, one-on-one, (Derek) Stingley (Jr.) makes a good play, and then you lose the ball there in the second half. So you don’t give yourself much of a chance when you lose the ball. That’s obviously something we need to improve on, and that’s what we’re going to try to do.”

On QB Daniel Jones’ thoughts on the first interception

“We had a play-action pass that was called just before. He (Daniel Jones) went left and made a bad decision and backed away.”

What QB Daniel Jones should have done

I’ll go back and watch it and evaluate it. That’s what these games are for.”

On the importance of quarterback Daniel Jones’ halftime finish

“One of the plans was to call some plays, throw some long balls today just to see how our line works, get him to drop back, feel a little bit of pressure when it gets going and try to drive the ball down the field, that was a focus. So good for him to hit ‘Slay’ (Darius Slayton). On the third play, I think it was the third play for (Malik) Nabers, Stingley did a good job, got his arm, that was close, so that was one of the things we wanted to try to do, which was try to drive the ball down the field, hit a couple, but it was good to finish that drive with a touchdown, but first play after a little break, a live scramble for a first down, so some good things, but obviously we can all do better.”

To evaluate QB Daniel Jones

“That’s what these games are for. It’s partly about evaluation, but obviously you have a plan going in there. It’s a little different than, I would say, a regular season game where you make plans and do things like that. I wanted to make sure we had enough plays where we’re throwing the ball down the field and having opportunities to throw the ball down the field. Again, there were some good things, it was good to get him out here, and then there’s some things that we’re going to learn from, and that’s what these things are for.”

On the decision that WR Malik Nabers plays

“Yeah, no, he’s ready. Anyone who was ready today would play, and then anyone they thought needed some time, we didn’t play. Whoever was physically ready, we’ll let them play.”

What he saw on WB Malik Nabers’ highlight catches

“I’ll take another look, but he’s a good player. I’m glad we have him.”

When asked if he thought the offensive line had held up well

“I did. Some of it was action passing, some of it was just dropping back. I thought that first group, again, was a faster defense. It’s a good defensive football team and I don’t think we allowed a sack until the end today and we had a strip sack with (Tommy) DeVito at the end, but I’ll go back and we’ll look at everything again and make corrections and try to get better this week.”

On the secondary and trio receiver side

“Yeah, I think they did some good things. When you lose the ball five times and give one up for a touchdown, it’s tough on the defense. You don’t want that, of course. It’s obviously better if it happens in the preseason so you get some resilience and can learn from it, but I think there are some good things. This is a good football team. They picked up the pace in the red zone again, had another fourth down stop against their first unit, so there’s a lot to learn, but let’s just start with the turnovers.”

To T. Evan Neal, who is not wearing a uniform

“He wasn’t ready to go. Anyone who was ready was ready to go. Hopefully we get him this week. We’ll see where he is, but he’s close.”

At the second interception

“That was a good call. Stingley played well and left the ball inside. It was man-to-man. (Jalin) Hyatt and Stingley did a little one-two move that led to an attack, and I think he left the ball inside a little bit, on the right side.”

“No news. Gunner (Olszewski) was injured in training on Friday. Gunner will be out for a while.”
