Philadelphia Phillies star tops prestigious list

Philadelphia Phillies star tops prestigious list

The Philadelphia Phillies have one of baseball’s biggest stars on their side.

Now that Bryce Harper is a full-time first baseman, he played at an MVP level for most of the 2024 season.

Under Harper’s leadership, the Phillies were one of baseball’s strongest World Series contenders this season.

Heading into Saturday’s MLB game, Philadelphia sits at 72-50, comfortably ahead of the NL East division race, and currently has the second-best record in baseball.

Harper has played a large part in this success. He has played in 107 games and achieved a batting average of .281/.373/.538, as well as 26 home runs and 73 RBIs.

Due to these numbers, he is now one of the best players in the national league.

Now Harper has received a great honor: he has been named high on a prestigious list.

Mark DeRosa, former player and current analyst, released his ranking of the five best faces in baseball. Harper landed at number 3 on the list behind Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani. He was ranked ahead of Bobby Witt Jr. and Paul Skenes.

This ranking really shows how good Harper has been both this season and in years past. He has become one of the best and most recognizable faces in baseball.

At 31 years old, Harper has shown this season that he still has plenty of gas in the tank.

The month of July will likely cost Harper a chance at the MVP award. He dropped off sharply last month, posting a batting average of .149/.240/.358 while hitting four home runs and getting nine RBIs. However, he has gotten back on track in August.

So far in August, he has hit two home runs and six RBIs, while posting a batting average of .327/.393/.527.

With just 40 games left in the regular season, the Phillies need their superstar to perform at a high level. They’re coming off a rough losing streak and are hoping to return to their dominant winning streak from the beginning of the season.

While Harper is one of the top five faces in baseball, it’s now time for him to prove it by leading his team to wins before the playoffs.
