ADCC North American Trials Champion Elijah Dorsey pulled off one of the biggest upsets on the first day of the 2024 ADCC World Championship, which featured many surprises, when he defeated Dante Leon in the first round.
Dorsey defeated Leon in the opening round in the -77 kg class, surprising one of the favorites in this weight class.
Dorsey defeated Leon 2-0 in the match and will face 2017 and 2019 ADCC World Champion (up to 77 kg), JT Torres, in the quarterfinals.
The victory came a few minutes after Pedro Marinho had caused a surprise in the -88 kg class.
