Netflix will serve as the home of a brand new singing competition to discover the next big band. Fittingly, the streamer has chosen names from some of the biggest groups of all time to host the series.

For, Kelly Rowland, Nicole Scherzinger, And Liam Payne are all on board.

Baptized “Building the band”, The show offers a new twist on the talent search format.

The series excludes face-to-face encounters from the musical equation. Instead, contestants find their ideal bandmates based on compatibility, connection and, most importantly, merit. And when the bands finally meet, viewers will see how looks, choreography and style come into play. Drama, sharp artistry and epic performances are promised.

Rowland (Destiny’s Child), Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls) and Payne (One direction) will act as judges.

Backstreet Boys star AJ McClean was recruited as host.

Executive Producer Cat Lawson said in a statement:

“Forming the band is a brave and bold endeavor for everyone involved as we give the singers the power to create their own band based on chemistry first. Without considering looks, can they build a deeper connection with their bandmates? With limited bands, there are difficult decisions and heartbreaking moments along the way, but ultimately the result is truly amazing and bands are formed that I believe are worthy of the very biggest stage!”

Filming on “Building the Band” begins this summer. Guest judges and unique challenges will be announced soon.
