The founders of a folk festival said they had found a possible new venue for the event after the premises they normally used came up for sale.

FolkEast will be held for the last time at the Glemham Hall Estate near Woodbridge, Suffolk, after eleven years of hosting the event there.

The festival ends on the Sunday before The move to a new location will take place in 2025.

Becky and John Marshall-Potter, the founders of the festival, said saying goodbye to Glemham Hall was a sad moment for them.

“Glemham has been our home for 12 years and when you have worked on a site like this you know every hole, every tree, every piece of this land and it is just beautiful,” said Mrs Marshall-Potter BBC Radio Suffolk.

“It’s a home for us for three weeks, something like our summer holiday home.”

Mr Marshall-Potter added that he felt a certain sadness.

“In all the years we’ve spent here, we’ve learned how to make the most of this location. It’s a beautiful location,” he explained.

“The event has grown really nicely here, but it could be something like a restart for the whole thing.”

The founders explained that they had been offered three of four other locations for the event.

However, they were not yet ready to announce their decision.

“Each of the two top players we are interested in will be spectacular,” said Marshall-Potter.

“They will do justice to the event.”

Ms Marshall-Potter said the event felt “like a family coming back every year”.

“Even though the site is constantly growing, it’s very important to us to never get too big because we want to maintain the feeling that you know everyone on this site,” she added.

“We hear this every year. People say it’s the friendliest place they’ve ever been to.”

Glemham Hall is a 16th century house that was offered for sale for £19 million earlier this year.

The property sold by Strutt & Parker is no longer on the market.
