Vance Honeycutt makes his debut on MLB Pipeline’s list of the Orioles’ top 30 young players

After former UNC baseball star Vance Honeycutt was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft a few weeks ago, it was guaranteed that he would be included in the next edition of the MLB Pipeline’s top 30 prospects list for the organization.

While we all expected Honeycutt to be among the 30 players listed, it’s a surprise to see him so high on the list, especially given the amount of talent the franchise has.

Honeycutt is currently considered the fourth-best player in the team’s farm system and will likely move up to at least No. 3 once Jackson Holliday comes off the roster (which should happen fairly soon).

The former Diamond Heels star has yet to play a single game with his new team and is considered one of the organization’s top five prospects, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him not only rise up the rankings but also fly through the minor leagues in the near future.

For Honeycutt, a move to the Orioles organization seems like a good idea, as the franchise has a surplus of talent in the infield, but could also benefit from some timely help in the outfield. In “win now” mode, the Orioles are hoping Honeycutt can help them sooner rather than later, as his ability to be a dynamic player on both sides of the ball can really help the major league club as it looks to capture a World Series title in the next few seasons.
