Hallmark’s A Costa Rican Wedding tells the story of bride-to-be Emily, who attends her best friend’s wedding in a remote location and is initially hesitant to attend, fearing she will be the unexpected hostess.

Where in Costa Rica did the wedding ceremony take place?

A Costa Rican Wedding was filmed in various parts of Costa Rica, including Puntarenas, San José and many others, to ensure the authenticity of the footage. Principal photography officially began in March 2024 and was completed within a few weeks. According to consulting editor Marysela Zamora of the National Film Commission, “Hallmark movies are generally not filmed outside the United States, but the director fell in love with the country.”

Puntarenas, Costa Rica is the location of the province of Puntarenas.

The film A Costa Rican Wedding was shot entirely in Puntarenas, Costa Rica and included several beach and jungle scenes. Director Colin Shes is said to have roamed the Costa Rican countryside by walking alone through the forest to capture the jungle scenes.

The film’s cast, which includes real animals such as a spider, tarantulas and a snake, was described as “magical” by Rhiannon Fish, who also shared that the scenery and waterfalls were real.

For the production of A Wedding in Costa Rica, various locations in Costa Rica were visited, including the city of San José, the Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa to film volcano views, and La Fortuna to film volcano and airport scenes, all of which were part of the overall production.

The wedding scenes were originally supposed to be shot on a tidal bank of the Tarcoles River, but due to bad weather, the director and his crew had to look for another location.

The wedding entertainment was provided by a group of artists in Costa Rica.

In the Hallmark production, Rhiannon Fish, a well-known personality from “The 100,” gives her interpretation of Emily. Her roles in the production include “When Love Springs,” “Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths,” “A Picture of Her” and “You’re Bacon Me Crazy,” as well as her appearance in “The Christmas Retreat” and “A Royal in Paradise.” Christopher Russell plays Ryan, a character from a television series based on a television series based on
