In December 2023, the former undisputed king of lightweight moved up a weight class and outclassed Regis Prograis to take the WBC super lightweight crown.

He then signed a contract for a big fight in April with Ryan Garcia, but that night didn’t go according to plan.

Haney was knocked down three times and defeated by unanimous decision in a wild upset.

However, the result was overturned a short time later.

In a series of doping tests the day before and on the day of the fight, Garcia tested positive for the banned performance-enhancing drug Ostarine.

Therefore, his victory was declared void and Haney’s undefeated boxing record was restored.

However, in the eyes of many fans, Haney’s reputation is already damaged and his appearance of invincibility, like his record, cannot be restored.

Garcia was also banned from boxing for a year.

Haney vowed to take time off from the ring following the controversy, but is now close to returning.

Yesterday, news emerged suggesting he is close to a deal to return to active duty in Saudi Arabia, and a video emerged showing him involved in a street brawl.

Garcia knocked Haney down three times and defeated him, but the fight was voided due to his positive drug tests.

While the clip does not make it clear what sparked the altercation at the fair, Haney is seen arguing with a man and then throwing a single punch that misses its target.

Members of Haney’s entourage take over the fight with the man on his behalf while the boxer withdraws from the situation.

On Friday, Garcia responded to the clip by tweeting: “He couldn’t even take down a civilian. Also, you talked about being a great role model.”

“You actually hit someone while your whole team jumped on one guy.”

In a now-deleted tweet, Haney responded: “The way you guys use the N-word, you guys would probably be best friends.”

Garcia was expelled from the WBC in July after uttering and tweeting a series of racist insults against blacks and Muslims.

Devin’s father, Bill Haney, was one of the few people who responded with forbearance, saying, “I’m certainly not happy to see the boy crash.”

“I always try to be as optimistic as I can as a human being.

“I hope everyone can be with me in my most difficult times, and also in his …

“I wish the whole team all the best, but there is no room for such discussions.”

“Especially the way it is staged. There is simply no room for it.”

Haney Sr. concluded, “I think he should get help.

“I don’t believe in kicking a man when he’s down. But he should definitely be helped.”
