An emotional night – Chucks win last home game of the regular season

An emotional night – Chucks win last home game of the regular season

The Chucks played against the Mud Puppies for the second year in a row and won the series 10-6. The Chucks finished the season at home 25-11 in the regular season and today’s win was their 5th.th straight.

The Chucks got off to a rocky start after starter Jonathon Amonica (Keiser U) allowed five runs in his first two innings. He was replaced by reliever Bryce Carter (Eastern FL St.), who got a strikeout in the 2nd inning.and to leave the inning. Chucks trailed 0-5 after two.

The Chucks finally caught up with three runs in the third inning. The scoring began with two outs when Drew Berkland (U of Minnesota) hit a single and was hit home. Two consecutive walks followed, followed by Eli Frank (UW-Whitewater) getting his first hit and two RBIs. Chucks were down 3-5.

In the 4ththThe Chucks scored four more runs with two walks and three hits. Sam Fischer (FIU) singled home Val Cerna Jr. (CMU), Max Galvin singled home Vance Sheahan (U of South Carolina Upstate) and Bryce Hubbard (Oregon St.) singled home Fischer. Chucks took the lead for the first time that night.

The Chucks managed three consecutive one-run innings when Cerna Jr. scored again in the 5th inning.th. The Chucks kept the Mud Puppies scoreless through the 5th6thand 7th Inning and led 8-6 until the 8th.th.

Seth Clausen (U of Minnesota) came in to throw the 8th Inning, he faced three batters and had one strikeout. In the second half, the Chucks scored two important runs. Berkland scored for the third time and Galvin made his 69th.thRBI and second of the night. Frank got another RBI with a double and the Chucks led 10-6.

Seth Clausen threw the 9th and shut the team down. He knocked out six players in a row during his appearance and finished with another save. Carter got the win and the Chucks finished their regular season at home with a win. The crowd was 1,790.

The Chucks will play their final two games of the regular season in Kenosha against the Kingfish. Both games start at 6:35 p.m. and this series will determine who hosts games two and three of the first playoff series.
