Civilization 7 has a new launch window and that’s good news for fans

There are few games as expected, at least in PC gaming circles, like Civilization 7. Each game in the series explores a different take on history and what it means to grow as a civilization over the eons. Although the sixth game is still going strong after numerous updates, it’s been eight years since its release and there’s a general feeling that another entry is due. That could come true sooner than many expected, as new information on Civilization 7’s launch window is being revealed as part of Take-Two’s new earnings report.

The existence of Civilization 7 has been known for a long time, ever since Firaxis boss Heather Hazen made an announcement to that effect in February 2023. After that, things went very quiet until a teaser trailer for the 4X game was shown at Summer Game Fest in June of this year. This was the first real confirmation for fans that the game is indeed on the way, with the release date for Civilization 7 set for sometime in 2025.

Aside from that reveal, there isn’t much information about the game yet. The teaser trailer was just that – very teaser-like – with no details on a change in direction, the focus of the game, or whether it will stick with the hex-based systems of the last two titles. The big reveal of its vision and gameplay is coming very soon, as a new Civilization 7 gameplay trailer will be part of Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 20.

All this means that The release of Civilization 7 is planned for the first quarter of 2025, between the beginning of January and the end of March. Of course, a final launch date has yet to be confirmed, and since this is the gaming industry, absolutely anything can happen in the next few months.
