One of MLB Network’s showcase broadcasts next week will feature some new voices commentating on a game.
According to a company statement released on Friday MLB Central The team consisting of Robert Flores, Mark DeRosa and Lauren Shehadi will commentate the game between the Phillies and the Royals next Saturday (August 24th) from Kauffman Stadium.
This is the first time that MLB CentralThe talented players will commentate on a game together, although all three have experience commentating on games with other partners.
On Friday MLB CentralThe crew talked about commentating on the game during their broadcast.
I mentioned this possibility four years ago and it’s nice to see that I was finally able to put it into action.
The MLB season is so long and has so many games that it’s not a bad thing for a broadcaster to go off the deep end with a game every now and then. And really, this isn’t that out of the ordinary: Shehadi has been a staple of TBS’s broadcasts for years, while Flores has plenty of experience calling games and DeRosa has worked as an analyst in the booth. This isn’t like throwing a bunch of rookies in at the deep end.
At least that MLB Central The show should be fun as it features two teams deep into the MLB playoffs. We hope it exceeds that bar and becomes a regular fixture on MLB Network.
