Devin Haney ‘couldn’t even drop a civilian,’ mocks suspended rival Ryan Garcia after seeing the boxer swing at and miss a man in a carnival brawl

Devin Haney ‘couldn’t even drop a civilian,’ mocks suspended rival Ryan Garcia after seeing the boxer swing at and miss a man in a carnival brawl

World boxing champion Devin Haney was among a group of men caught attacking someone at the Orange County Fair, and the video went viral on social media.

The reason for the dispute remains unclear, as do the identities of the other parties involved.

The 27-second clip shows Haney and a group of men crowding around another civilian next to one of the fair’s attractions. Haney appears to start the violence with a sneaky punch before the boxer’s friends intervene and continue the beating.

The other man regains cover and does his best to stay on his feet before police sirens are heard outside of the camera’s view, causing Haney and his group to flee.

The fact that Haney failed to bring the civilian to the ground with his left straight was noticed by boxing fans and his rival, the suspended boxer Ryan Garcia.

“He couldn’t even kill a civilian,” Garcia wrote on X.

“Also, you talked about being a great role model,” he continued. “You actually hit someone while your whole team jumps on one guy.”

In a follow-up post, Garcia asked “what the commission would do if I were to fight someone and it was caught on camera.”

Garcia then added: “The thing is, he hits so softly that they might let it slide and call it an exhibition fight.”

Garcia, 26, has been in trouble since defeating Haney by majority decision in Brooklyn on April 20.

Garcia’s victory was stripped by the New York State Athletic Commission after he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. Garcia was fined $1.1 million and suspended for one year for taking Ostarine, which he denies taking.

Since then, Garcia has been expelled from the WBC for making racist comments against African Americans and insulting Muslims in online posts.

Garcia has since apologized and vowed to enter rehab to get his drug problem under control.

Many boxing fans were also quick to point out that the outnumbered man in the carnival fight was relatively unfazed by Haney’s left hook, although others questioned whether the punch even landed.

“Devin Haney was not capable of taking down or rattling a fair worker with a sneaky shot,” one person wrote on X.

“He didn’t even land, which may or may not be as bad,” another person wrote.

Representatives for Haney did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.
