A 20-year-old pedestrian was killed in Kent when he was struck by a car on SE Kent-Kangley Road on Thursday evening, August 15.

According to an Aug. 16 Kent Police news release, the Kent woman was crossing the street in the 111000 block of SE Kent-Kangley Road outside of a crosswalk.

According to police, an officer on routine patrol came across the incident at around 10:40 p.m. Shortly after arriving, he was notified by dispatch that someone had called 911 to report the accident. Police later determined that the caller was the driver, a 23-year-old woman from Kent.

The officer found that the pedestrian had significant injuries. He immediately called a paramedic and began CPR when he could no longer find a pulse on the woman, police said. Paramedics arrived and continued to provide life-saving aid, but the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle cooperated with the investigation and was interviewed by officers. Initial information and evidence collected at the scene indicate the pedestrian crossed Kent-Kangley Road outside of a crosswalk, police said.
