New Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Superintendent welcomes students to first day

BONNER SPRINGS, Kansas (KCTV) – While many schools in Kansas are finishing their first week of school, one district’s first day of school began on Friday.

In the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville school district, 2,400 children and dozens of teachers are back in class.

“What we do in preschool is just as important as what we do in 12th grade. We’re trying to prepare kids for what’s next in life. We know some of our kids are going to go to college, some are going to go to the military, the workforce or technical school. We want our kids to figure out what they want to do professionally and how to get there,” said Rick Moulin, superintendent of the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville School District.

It’s also a big year for the district as it welcomes Moulin as its new superintendent.

Although this is his first year as superintendent for Moulin, it is not his first time in the district.

Moulin has a BSE degree and has worked in the district for 29 years.

He welcomed 29 new teachers this year and many of them work in the district who also have a BSE degree.

It has a special meaning for many of them and also for Supt. Moulin.”

“It’s been an incredible time and there’s nowhere I’d rather be than in the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville School District. I’m the first in my family to graduate from college and the reason I’m here is because I’ve had great teachers,” said Superintendent Moulin.

They look forward to this school year and to seeing how students and teachers develop in the 2024-2025 year.
