This bear is relaxing in a pond and living his best life

It’s a godsend when someone places a trail camera in just the right spot. Whether the camera captures a heated standoff, a hilarious situation, or a moment of zen, it’s both fun and interesting to see what wild animals get up to when they think there aren’t any humans watching. Take, for example, a large black bear that was seen relaxing in a pond in South Lake Tahoe, California, earlier this week. He’s simply living his best life, and we feel privileged to witness it.

Tahoe Toogee (aka Toogee Sielsch) operates several trail cameras in the greater Lake Tahoe area and regularly captures footage of wild black bears. He posted a trail camera video on Tuesday on his Instagram page, which has well over 10,000 followers.

“A Tahoe black bear’s definition of ‘Totally Relaxed!'” Toogee’s caption reads. “Another satisfied customer at Tam’s Pond. With the California black bear population growing, Tam should consider a franchise opportunity (so). Lol!”

We don’t know who Tam is, but we’re glad he or she is keeping an eye on this pond and the wildlife that visits it.

Black bears can have black or brown fur. Brown bears (like grizzlies) no longer live in California, so this is undoubtedly a black bear.
