The team will pick up the diamond later on Friday.

Hinsdale players have not lost a game in three years and hope to continue their winning streak.

With a record of 13-0 this season after winning a Great Lakes Region game against the kids from Jasper, Indiana, the Hinsdale players will be in Williamsport to compete in the Little League Baseball World Series.

“I’ve wanted to win this since I was 7, or at least be here, but it would be really cool,” said player Dillon Phelan.

ABC7’s Ryan Chiaverini caught up with some of the players ahead of their big game.

“It’s just incredible that we’ve made it this far. This has been my dream since I was a kid,” said player Kellan Goodwin.

The team has outscored its opponents 405 to 25 since it came together at just 10 years old.

However, this is their first time participating in the World Series.

Hinsdale received a bye in the first round and will now face a team from Hawaii that won its first game on Wednesday.

“It’s been a great experience. The kids are having so much fun. I think we all finally get it,” Hinsdale coach Chad Wanless said.

“I know there are a lot of people out there watching and relying on me, but I also get to show everyone what talent I have and prove to everyone that I’m a really good baseball player and can compete with anyone,” said player Grant Wanless.

The series is a double-elimination tournament played through the following weekend, with the winners of 10 U.S. regional tournaments competing against the best of 10 international teams.

Whether they win or lose, their coach says he couldn’t be prouder of these young men.

“We just want the guys to be proud of what they’re doing and for the community, the Chicago region and the state of Illinois to be proud of what we’re doing here,” Wanless said.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN on Friday at 2 p.m.

A local watch party is taking place at Fuller House in Hinsdale.

If they win, they will play again on Monday.
