Fortnite finally returns to iPhones, but only for some players – Epic Games launches its own app store

FORTNITE is one of the most popular games in the world as gamers are crazy about the free battle royale.

While Android owners have been able to enjoy Fortnite on their phones for years, Apple users have missed out since Epic Games was removed from the App Store.

The developer Epic Games has become involved in a legal dispute with Apple over payment methods because Apple keeps a share of all game purchases made through the App Store.

This often increases the price of in-game purchases on mobile devices compared to their PC counterparts.

Epic claimed that it was aiming for price parity across all versions of Fortnite, which is why the game was removed from iPhones and iPads.

Last month, Epic Games announced that Fortnite would return to Apple products with the launch of the Epic Games Store app, alongside other games like Fall Guys and Rocket League.

While Fortnite is coming to iPhones for the first time since 2021, Fall Guys is available on mobile for the first time.

The Epic Games Store app is now available for Android worldwide and for iOS in the EU.

However, there are plans to introduce the app for iOS in other regions in the future.

To celebrate the return of Fortnite to iOS, Epic Games has released a new skin that all players can claim and use for free.

The Katalina skin can be claimed on iOS by playing five games on the phone and completing the in-game quests.

It will also be added to the Item Store for free at a later date for all players, regardless of platform or region.

The Katalina skin can be claimed for free until November 2, 2024, so we expect it to be available before then.

If you want to install Fortnite on Android or iOS, you only need to follow a few steps.

Before you can install Fortnite on your mobile device, you must first download the Epic Games Store app on your phone.

Visit fortnite.com/download on your device or scan the QR code on the PC website.

Make sure your device allows the Epic Games Store to set up its marketplace and click the install prompt.

Remember that it is currently available on iOS only within the EU, but is expected to be available in the UK in the second half of 2025.
