play

After Saturday night, Jacksonville Jaguars fans will next see their team on turf in Jacksonville on September 15th in their home opener against the Cleveland Browns.

With training camp practices open to the public (there were 14 in total) and the second home game of the preseason against the Tampa Bay Bucs, Jags fans will have to wait 29 days for the game against the Browns.

By then, the third preseason game (August 23 in Atlanta) will have been completed, the final cuts will have been made and the Jaguars will open the regular season on September 8 in Miami.

A lot can happen before we get our next up-close and personal look at the team.

Here are the game day activities and what fans can expect on Saturday against the Bucs:

Play Football Month celebrations continue

The Jaguars are honoring their commitment to supporting youth and high school football during Play Football Month by donating over 4,000 game tickets to local youth and high school football and cheerleading programs.

The American flag is held aloft by members of the Mandarin and Raines high school football teams during the singing of the national anthem. Raines won the Linemen Challenge competition at the Nike 11-On tournament hosted by Jaguars PREP, while Mandarin won the overall tournament.

Raines and Mandarin will each have three athletes participate in a football-themed relay race on the field.

In addition, the Florida Gateway College (Lake City) flag football team, which won the NJCAA national championship, will be recognized in the South End Zone.

Super 11 team is honored

This year’s Florida Times-Union Super 11 will be honored. The team, selected each preseason, consists of the most sought-after high school football prospects in Northeast Florida.

Community Champion of the Game

During the third quarter of the game, the Jaguars will honor Larry Roziers, president of the Mitch22 Foundation, as the Jaguars’ Community Champion of the game. Roziers helped found the Mitch22 Foundation to honor the legacy of his late son, Larry Mitchell Roziers II, who was diagnosed with a rare muscle disease.

Roziers was selected for his work through the foundation to fund scholarships, school supply drives and support for mothers who have lost children in the Jacksonville area. The foundation also partners with community providers, including homeless shelters, domestic violence victim centers and nursing homes, to support these facilities.

Jaguars urge fans to come early

Since construction is currently taking place on the sports complex site, the Jaguars encourage fans to arrive as early as possible. Parking at the stadium opens at 3 p.m.

There will be some traffic disruption and fans should download and save their mobile parking permits and tickets before arrival so they can be easily scanned.

Patriotism on match day

  • The national anthem is performed by Stephanie Jagrup-Williams, a native of St. Croix Island who has appeared on gospel albums and performs in churches, social events and weddings. The anthem is performed for the hearing impaired by Ariana Delgado Montoya.

  • The colors are presented by members of the Color Guard of the U.S. Army Jacksonville Recruiting Company.
  • Honored as bell ringer is Air Traffic Control First Class Gregory Faircloth. Faircloth joined the Navy in Jacksonville in 2008 and has been deployed three times and stationed at five domestic commands. Faircloth is also a weapons tactics instructor and has helped train SEAL Team 8. He was recently named instructor of the quarter in Pensacola.
  • The veteran of the game is retired Lt. Col. Cara Weldy. Weldy joined the U.S. Army in 1985 and attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 1990, she was promoted to lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps and worked primarily as a medical evacuation pilot. Weldy deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004 to 2005, where she earned a Bronze Star service medal as commander of the 82nd Medical Air Ambulance Company. She flew more than 200 missions with the Army Medical Department before retiring in 2011 after 26 years.

First “Duuuval!”

The first “Duuuval!” will be delivered by Ralph Graham Jr., NFL Flag 18U Girls Coach of the Year. After 20 years as a flag football player, Graham Jr. became a coach in 2016 and in July he received the honor after leading his team to two regional tournament victories in New Orleans and Jacksonville. Graham capped his 2024 summer campaign by winning his team’s class championship at the NFL Flag Championships held at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. He currently leads youth flag football camps, leagues and tournaments.
