Portuguese club Sporting CP recently stepped up its efforts to sign Vitor Roque, as reported by well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano.
He mentions that Sporting has been actively negotiating with Deco and Roque’s agents over the past 24 hours to secure the services of the young talent.
In contrast, FC Porto, another Portuguese club interested in the Brazilian, does not seem to be in advanced talks about a possible transfer of Roque.
It should be noted that there has been much speculation about Roque’s departure from Barcelona, as the 19-year-old striker appears to have fallen out of favor with the Catalan giants.
The club’s decision to part ways with the Brazilian starlet came amid growing uncertainty about his future and led to increased interest from various clubs both in Portugal and across Europe.
Great interest from Portugal
Among the interested parties, Sporting have emerged as a serious candidate for Roque’s signature. In fact, the Portuguese club are one of several clubs that have their eyes on the young striker and see his potential to make a major impact.
Although it was initially reported that Sporting’s main rival Porto was interested in Roque, talks between Porto and the player have not progressed. As of now, there are no substantive negotiations between Porto and Roque, despite previous interest.
Barcelona, on the other hand, are reportedly demanding a transfer fee of at least 30 million euros for Roque, with the club hoping to recoup a large part of the investment they made when signing the young winger in January.
Although Sporting appear to be leading the race for Roque, they are not the only club interested in his services. English Premier League club Everton have also expressed interest in signing the Brazilian striker, along with several other Premier League clubs.
However, according to Romano, the possibility of Roque moving to Portugal, more specifically to Sporting, seems to be increasingly coming into focus.
