On July 6, New York Liberty forwards Jonquel Jones (35) and Breanna Stewart (30) team up to cover Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston.

Indianapolis, home of the league’s biggest draw, the Indiana Fever, will host the WNBA All-Star Game for the first time in 2025, ESPN reported Wednesday.

According to the report, the WNBA is expected to make an announcement later this week. A Fever spokesperson told the Indianapolis Star on Wednesday: “Indianapolis has a long tradition of hosting events.”

The city hosted the NBA All-Star Game this year at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and is also scheduled to host the 2026 men’s basketball Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium and the 2028 women’s Final Four, also in Gainbridge. The entire 2021 men’s NCAA tournament was played in Indiana, with the Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Fever’s popularity rose when they drafted Caitlin Clark out of Iowa with the No. 1 pick. Clark is an NCAA record-setting scorer whose Iowa games drew huge crowds, and she also made a splash in her rookie season.

The Fever are the league leaders in home and away attendance, up 265 percent from 2023, averaging 16,898 fans for 11 home games (capacity 18,000).

In addition, they lead the league with 38 games on national television and have set viewership records for the WNBA.

Clark, along with last year’s top pick Aliyah Boston and teammate Kelsey Mitchell, attended the 2024 All-Star Game in Phoenix, which drew a record number of viewers, surpassing the previous record set 21 years ago. A total of 3.44 million people watched the game on ABC, surpassing the previous record of 1.44 million viewers set in 2003.

Last year’s game, also played in prime time and televised by ABC, attracted 850,000 viewers.
