Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran has landed her next leading role in the psychological thriller “Control Freak.”

Directed by Shal Ngo, the film is about “a motivational speaker plagued by an uncontrollable itch on her head who becomes infected with a parasitic demon from her homeland” (via Deadline).

Production of the film was recently completed and the premiere will take place in early 2025.

Tran is set to play protagonist Valerie, while “Halloween” star Miles Robbins will play Valerie’s husband Robbie.

In addition to Tran and Robbins, “Control Freak” also stars Toan Le from “The Sympathizer” as Valerie’s father Sang and Kieu Chinh from “The Joy Luck Club,” who will play Valerie’s aunt Thuy.

David Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian and Jenna Cavelle are on board as producers of the film, with Shaum S. Sengupta and Miles Alva serving as executive producers. Hatuey Rodriguez will serve as co-producer of the film.

In 2017, Tran made her film debut in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, where she played Resistance maintenance worker Rose Tico. The actress later reprised her role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Tran will next be seen in the third and final season of Netflix’s fantasy series Sweet Tooth, which will hit the streaming platform in June.

The series is based on the comics of the same name by Jeff Lemire and is about the half-human hybrid Gus (Christian Convery), who tries to find his mother in a post-apocalyptic society.

In a statement last year, showrunner Jim Mickle gave a taste of what to expect in the final installment: “Season 3 is an Arctic story with exciting new adventures, and we hope this will be a satisfying conclusion to this epic narrative. Gus will get to see a side of the world and humanity that he didn’t see in Season 1 or 2” (via Netflix’s Tudum).

There is no release date for “Control Freak” yet.
