Over the last 28 years, Werner Drews has worked hard to build 2wcom Systems into a successful manufacturer, supplier and system integrator of broadcast equipment. Now he is handing the company over to long-standing 2wcom managing directors Leif Cipriani and Mirko Goldschmidt and embarking on a new adventure – a circumnavigation of the world.

“This decision is not due to a lack of passion for my work, but rather a desire to experience new adventures with my wife as long as our health allows,” Drews wrote on LinkedIn. “We plan to explore different countries by sailboat, discover the beauty of this world, gain new experiences and learn as much as possible.”

Cipriani and Goldschmidt were prepared for their new roles at the top of the company through extensive on-the-job training. Both men have been key members of the 2wcom team for over a decade and embody the values and vision Werner instilled in them.

Cipriani will take over the sales and development areas together with Gunnar Johannsen, 2wcom’s technology director. Goldschmidt will manage the operational business, including production, procurement and order processing.

“I am incredibly grateful to have found such capable successors and am confident that the future of 2wcom is in excellent hands,” wrote Drews. “… My goal has always been to give everyone at 2wcom the freedom to be innovative, creative and motivated. I am proud of the values that have developed at 2wcom and that shape our team and our spirit. I am confident that the new management will continue to uphold these values: honesty, openness, transparency, respect and trust.”

Cipriani and Goldschmidt noted that Drews’ legacy is present in every corner of 2wcom.

“We recently opened ‘Werner’s Coffee Place,’ a cozy corner with comfortable seating and a digital photo frame where Werner shares photos from his sailing adventures,” 2wcom said in a statement. “This special place serves as a constant reminder of Werner’s tireless spirit and dedication.”

The Flensburg-based company produces hardware for DAB+, HD radio, FM/RDS and audio-over-IP applications, among other broadcast-oriented products.
