Match report: Eagles vs. Patriots

Match report: Eagles vs. Patriots

FOXBOROUGH – The Eagles returned for their second preseason game against the Patriots on Thursday night.

The Eagles emerged victorious again, securing victory in the second game with 14:13.

While several first-team players started on defense, including Bryce Huff, Devin White and Zack Baun, the offense did not play its starters. Rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson did not play tonight as he is in concussion protocol.

Tyler Steen left the game in the first quarter and was later carried off the field with an ankle injury. The Eagles ruled him out for the rest of the game. Along with Steen, wide receiver John Ross left the game in the second half due to a concussion.

  • The Eagles defense recorded its first interception of the preseason when Avonte Maddox intercepted Jacoby Brissett in the end zone with 7:16 left in the quarter. The Patriots made it to the 8-yard line before a no-gain tackle by Zack Baun allowed the interception on the ensuing play.
  • The loss of the ball gave the Eagles offense some points when Jake Elliott kicked a 42-yard field goal with 3:08 minutes left in the quarter after some nice throws from Kenny Pickett. (Eagles 3 – Ravens 0)
  • Tyler Steen left the game with 1:21 left in the period due to an unspecified injury. Nick Gates replaced the injured Steen. Center Matt Hennessy is unavailable tonight (reason unknown).
  • “I think they had their best guys there for a while, too. And that’s a great opportunity for us, you know, twos and threes and a lot of guys trying to get this team to go out there and compete against the best they’ve got,” Pickett said.
