Calling all students of Beauxbatons, Hogwarts and Durmstrang!

Warner Bros. Games has released a video tour of the Triwizard School pitches in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, showcasing Beauxbatons Academy and Durmstrang Institute, mentioned in the Harry Potter books and films. The game is the first adaptation of these iconic wizarding schools.

The video offers a closer look at the schools’ Quidditch pitches, providing a glimpse of their unique architecture, landscapes and campus outdoor spaces, as well as all-new gameplay footage.

As players progress through Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions’ Career Mode, they’ll compete in the Triwizard Quidditch Cup, where they’ll be able to represent one of the three wizarding schools in the ultimate Quidditch experience.

Players can also experience these epic playing fields in PVP and Exhibition modes.

As they progress through the game’s Career Mode, players will eventually reach the Triwizard Quidditch Cup, where they will choose one of three international schools to represent in the cup. Players can choose to represent Hogwarts, where they will compete alongside the school’s finest, such as Cedric Diggory, Ron Weasley, and Harry Potter. Competing against Beauxbatons, players can find themselves alongside Fleur Delacour in a fast-paced hunt for the Golden Snitch. During a high-intensity match against Durmstrang, players should watch out for Viktor Krum, who at 19 was talented enough to play as a Seeker for the Bulgarian national team—in the World Cup final, no less.

Of course, much of the inspiration came directly from the film Goblet of Fire, which gives us the only visual glimpse into the students and cultures of two of Europe’s greatest wizarding schools. We wondered how the students of these schools would approach Quidditch. We imagined students from Beauxbatons on elaborately crafted brooms, flying with perfect form and showmanship around a beautifully manicured pitch, and the students of Durmstrang practicing on sturdy brooms in harsh conditions.

The Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is located in the heart of the Pyrenees in southern France. Descriptions of the school’s ice sculptures and fountains are reminiscent of Baroque architecture and gardens. The lawn is perfectly manicured, surrounded by reflecting pools, and spectators watch the sport from ornate and decorated stands.

In contrast, Durmstrang Institute is located in the far north of Europe. To contrast the picturesque daytime weather of Beauxbatons, we set Durmstrang’s pitch at night, in the light of the Aurora Borealis. Viking-inspired architecture can be seen around the pitch, with minimal use of flames to maintain the school’s secrecy. The pitch itself is set some distance from the school for the same reason, and the iconic ship that students travel on is docked next to the pitch, surrounded by water. The pitch’s surface is made of frozen black stone, so athletes who fall off their broom learn from every mistake.

And as a special gift, players who own Hogwarts Legacy will receive the Bonus Legacy Pack when they download Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions and connect to their WB Games account.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Master will be released on September 3, 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, followed by Nintendo Switch later this holiday season.
