Following an accident on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia, drivers were stuck in traffic on Thursday afternoon after the road was closed in both directions.

According to police, the accident occurred near the Reservoir Drive intersection.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Accident Investigation Division told NBC10 that the 911 call about the accident came in around 3:22 p.m.

A white Nissan Rogue SUV, a black Nissan Altima sedan and a black BMW crashed at the intersection, police said.

According to police, a man in his early forties was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 4 p.m.

A second man in his mid-forties was taken to another hospital in stable condition, police said.

Shortly before 6 p.m., SkyForce10 was above the accident site. The three cars damaged in the accident could be seen.

It appears drivers are being diverted around the accident scene at Hunting Park Avenue and Fountain Green Drive.

The white Nissan had visible damage to the front, while the two black sedans crashed on the shoulder.

It appeared as if the airbags in one of the vehicles had been deployed.
