“Black Myth Wukong” competes with “Elden Ring” in epic final trailer

Black Myth Wukong is one of those games that you hear about every now and then and think, “Oh yeah, that game looks cool, I wonder when it’s finally coming out.” Years go by, every now and then a trailer or some gameplay footage comes out. But it feels far away, like a wave rolling out to sea.

Considering that the game is actually coming out in less than two weeks, this is a bit of a shock. Black Myth Wukong will be released on August 20th for PC and PS5, so it’s just around the corner.

Chinese developer GAMESCIENCE has released a final trailer to generate some hype for the kung fu action RPG Soul-I like it and it really is one of the most impressive video game trailers I’ve seen in a long time. Check it out:

That’s pretty epic, right? Everything about this trailer works. You see the beautiful, sprawling world and all of its ancient monsters and dancing monkeys. You get a taste of battling regular enemies and bosses (or at least much larger enemies). The music really sets the tone, and then the trailer goes crazy with monkeys jumping around in front of the camera, drums, giant magical beasts, blood-drinking cats, crawling snakes… I’m impressed. Whether the game is a hit or not, that was a damn good trailer.

The game’s story has its roots in Chinese mythology and is based on Journey to the West, one of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature. You play as the “Chosen One” on a glorious – and dangerous – quest for long-lost truths.

I’m not sure Black Myth Wukong will have the same scope or depth as something like Elden Ring, but it seems to satisfy the same itch. Fans of Sekiro, Ghost Of Tsushima, Niro, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and other similar games should find a lot of excitement here. I can’t wait to play.

You can check out the game and its PC system requirements on the Steam page.
